Team Preview: Switzerland Top Players, Predicted Line Up for Euro 2024

Team Preview: Switzerland Top Players, Predicted Line Up for Euro 2024

In this blog, I’ll examine Switzerland’s squad with an eye on their performance potential for Euro 2024. I will analyse the Dream Team top player picks for Switzerland and the predicted lineup, providing valuable insights for making informed decisions when selecting your own team for matchday 1.

Fixtures

Matchday 1: Hungary
Matchday 2: Scotland
Matchday 3: Germany

Predicted Line Up

GK: Sommer – 3m
LB: Rodriguez – 3m
CB: Akanji – 3.5m
CB: Elvedi – 2.5m
RB: Fernandes – Unknown
CM: Freuler – 2.5m
CM: Xhaka – 3m
CM: Freuler – 2.5m
LW: Vargas – 2.5m
ST: Amdouni – 2.5m
RW: Shaqiri – 2.5m

Top Player Picks

Xhaka (MID – 3m)
Xhaka gets a lot of game time for Switzerland and has chipped in with 2 goals and 2 assists in his last 12 games. He could be a good enabler at 3m. Other than Germany, who I’d expect to top this group, it should come down to Switzerland or Hungary for second place.

Vargas (MID – 2.5m)
Another cheap enabler, at 2.5m. Vargas has scored 3 in his last 10 games and also provided 2 assists. It’s a little bit of a punt but could pay off. He’s also down as a midfielder but plays very far forward.

Shaqiri (MID – 2.5m)
His best days are probably past him but he’s a great price at 2.5m. He’s had 6 goal involvements in his past 9 games (3 goals and 3 assists) and is on a lot of set pieces.

Summary

I’d probably put Switzerland as slight favourites to come second in group A – ahead of Hungary. The way their fixtures fall is also more favourable with Hungary up first and Scotland second. This means they avoid Germany in their first two fixtures. I’m not sure I’d particularly fancy them for clean sheets but the three midfielders I’ve highlighted above do appear to offer good value. We will need to find a couple of bargains with pricing being fairly competitive this time around. However, it does feel like a bit of a lottery trying to pick out these cheap enablers – it will require a lot of luck for one of these to really fly in the tournament as they are playing for teams who aren’t favoured to go too far.
