Fixtures

Matchday 1: Albania
Matchday 2: Spain
Matchday 3: Croatia

Predicted Line Up

Predicting Italy’s line up is difficult, I’ve not found a single resource online that agree with each other. However, only the key players really matter. Here’s a rough guide as to who may start:

GK: Donnarumma – 4m
LB: Dimarco – 4m
CB: Bastoni – 4m
CB: Acerbi – 4m
RB: Di Lorenzo – 4.5m
CM: Frattesi – 3.5m
CM: Barella – 4m
CM: Jorginho – 3.5m
LW: Pellegrini – Unknown
ST: Raspadori – 3.5m
RW: Chiesa – 4.5m

Top Player Picks

Dimarco (DEF – 4m)
Italy are usually defensively solid. Dimarco could be a good pick as an attacking left back. He’s had a good amount of game time and grabbed an assist. At 4m though, I’m not sure he’s a great pick beyond the Albania game with two tough fixtures after that.

Barella (MID – 4m)
I’m looking at Barella as well for the opening game against Albania. He should be nailed on to start for Italy and is the heart of their midfield. He’s got a goal and 3 assists to his name in his past 9 games. He’s OK value at 4m but another that if I did start with, I’d probably be looking to move on after the Albania game.

Jorginho (MID – 3.5m)
At 3.5m Jorginho could be worth considering as he will be on penalties. However, given Italy’s tough group, I’m not sure he’s the best choice of players at that price point.

Summary

Italy haven’t been in the best of form since they won the Euros in 2021. Looking at their squad and tough group draw, I’m not sure I see them going all the way this time around. I do like the look of starting with a couple of their players though given their first game is probably must win against Albania. I’m not sure I’d go for any of their strikers but Dimarco and Barella in particular might be worth a punt. Chiesa would also be of interest but he’s not played in that many of their last 10 games, I’m assuming down to injury. I think their defenders are also a little over priced.
