In this blog, I’ll examine Hungary’s squad with an eye on their performance potential for Euro 2024. I will analyse the Dream Team top player picks for Hungary and the predicted lineup, providing valuable insights for making informed decisions when selecting your own team for matchday 1.

Hungary are a tricky team to predict as I don’t know too much about them. However, I’ve browsed some resources online and they could start like this:

GK: Gulacsi – 2.5m
LWB: Kerkez – 2.5m
CB: Orban – 2.5m
CB: Szalai – 2m
CB: Lang – 2.5m
RWB: Nego – 2.5m
CM: Styles – Unknown
CM: Nagy – 2m

Top Player Picks

Szoboszlai  (MID – 3.5m)
Szoboszlai appears to be pivotal to everything in this Hungary team. In his last 10 matches he’s been involved in 9 goals with 6 goals and 3 assists. This appears to make him good value at 3.5m. If Hungary are to do well at Euro 2024 it’s hard to imagine at this stage that Szoboszlai won’t play a huge part in that. He always appears to be on every set piece and penalties.  

Summary

Hungary are one of those teams that could be a bit of a red herring for me. On paper, they are on a great unbeaten run but personally I’m not sure I see them going too far into the tournament. They are very much outsiders to win the whole thing and I’m not even sure that I fancy them to beat Switzerland in their opening game. I certainly don’t fancy them against Germany in their second. Having said that Szoboszlai does stand out as good value at 3.5m considering he’s on all set pieces and already has a good goalscoring record from midfield. I’ve not picked out any other players as top picks as I’m not sure I’d go for any myself. However, there is value in their defence if it’s something you wanted to look at – Lang at 2.5m should be nailed to start and has a couple of assists in his past 10 games. Gulacsi in goal could be good value as well but he’s not certain to start and as I’ve already mentioned, I’m not sure the group is as easy as it looks so they might not keep clean sheets.
