Predicted Line Up
It’s always difficult to predict how teams will line up, however, I’ve browsed online to see how Germany might shape up. They should look something like this:
GK: Neuer – 4.5m
LB: Mittelstadt – 3.5m
CB: Tah – 4m
CB: Rudiger – 4.5m
RB: Kimmich – 5m
CDM: Kroos – 3.5m
CDM: Andrich – 3.5m
CM: Gundogan – 4m
LW: Wirtz – 4.5m
RW: Musiala – 4.5m
ST: Havertz – 4.5m
There are players such as Raum, Sane and Fullkrug also in contention so any predicted line up is never set in stone but that’s my best guess based on the information I’ve seen online.
Top Player Picks
Mittelstadt (DEF – 3.5m)
When we look across defenders who are likely to start for the big nations who may go all the way in Euro 2024, there are next to none that are valued at less than 4m. This makes Mittelstadt stand out like a sore thumb to me. I’m hoping he will start at left back ahead of Raum but it’s worth keeping an eye on the next round of friendlies.
Wirtz (MID – 4.5m)
He’s done very well for Leverkusen this season with a ton of goals and assists. For me, it’s a choice between Wirtz or Musiala as I think both are well priced at 4.5m. My only worry with Wirtz is that some predicted starting line ups have Sane in ahead of him.
Musiala (MID – 4.5m)
Hasn’t performed as well as Wirtz across the season in the Bundesliga but has missed some game time through injury. I do think he could have a very good tournament for the host nation and he’s someone I’m strongly considering starting with. His style of play may suit the Dream Team point scoring system.
Gundogan (MID – 4m)
Should be nailed on to start with less risk of rotation. Should also be on penalties as well so could be a good pick to save 0.5m compared to Wirtz and Musiala.
Summary
Germany do not have a great record in recent competitions, but they are the host nation and have a relatively easy group. At this stage, I’m not sure I’m looking beyond any of the three players highlighted above. I could consider Tah at only 0.5m more than Mittelstadt but I think the latter has more potential for attacking returns. We could also consider Havertz but there is a danger that he shares game time with Fullkrug. Both represent good value but I’m not sure I fancy taking the risk on either considering the abundance of forward options with only three places available.
