Review of Game Week 34

Review of Game Week 34

GW Points: 105
Overall Points: 3,850
Overall Rank: 319

Another fairly flat game week, with a minor drop on the leaderboard. This basically came down to picking the wrong captain. Had I gone for Haaland, I think I’d have made a decent jump on the leaderboard but I went for Watkins due to the extra fixture. Fine margins at this stage of the season but 80% of managers in the top 1,000 went for Watkins as well so it seems like it was still the logical choice. Only 15% went for Haaland. Salah could have possibly been a better pick than Isak as well but I’m still happy to have Isak for Newcastle’s double game week coming up.

Here is my breakdown of each player:

Ederson – is back from injury so I’ll hold.

Gabriel – could be tempted to swap for a City defender due to extra fixtures alone.

Alexander-Arnold – will keep until the end of the season for potential attacking returns.

Gvardiol – keep for the rest of the season.

De Bruyne – keep for the rest of the season.

Foden – keep for the rest of the season.

Palmer – keep for the rest of the season.

Saka – keep for the rest of the season..

Isak – keep for the rest of the season

Watkins – likely to swap for Son this week

Haaland – keep for the rest of the season.

When I say keep for the rest of the season, I generally mean until the Premier League is over. Obviously, when we hit the final game week (FA Cup), I’ll lose two players who aren’t involved such as Saka or Palmer.

Plan for game week 35

We’ve got until tomorrow morning to ponder who to remove. I’ve already decided on one transfer for certain – Watkins is coming out for Son. Villa have a tough single fixture this week and Spurs have two fixtures so it’s a no brainer for me. I could also be tempted to swap Gabriel for Walker or a different City defender given that City have four remaining fixtures and Arsenal have two. The same logic could be applied to Saka but Haaland proved last week that sometimes only 1 fixture is needed for a high score and it would be a huge risk to remove Saka. Swapping a defender with two fixtures for a defender for four fixtures seems like a better play.
