Game week 21 wasn’t the best but it was far from a disaster. I’m still sat within the top 100 teams on the leaderboard (somewhere I’ve never been in the past 5 years) so I’m delighted with how my season is going. The team did take a slight drop on the leaderboard but it’s very fine margins when you’re this high up. Ideally. I’d have liked to continue to progress up the leaderboard but I’ve also got a good sense of perspective. I can’t have good luck with players week after week and realistically I’m not looking to win the whole thing. My aim is really only to provide value to this community and hopefully give enough advice that people can do well in their mini leagues – as a result, I’d be happy with a top 1,000 finish as I think that meets that objective. As a result, a slight drop down to 60th doesn’t bother me that much as it’s still a brilliant position to be in. I’ve also got no regrets about not picking Pedro – easy in hindsight to say people should have bought him in but none of us can see into the future and it wasn’t a guarantee that he was going to score well.

Here is my breakdown of each player:

Dubravka – can’t ask for much more than 12 points from a cheap keeper.

Saliba – not good again from Saliba, may have to consider moving him on as he’s dropping on the list of top scoring defenders as well.

Estupinan – awful start in my team. Considering taking him straight out.

Van Dijk – happy with 10 points from Van Dijk

Palmer – 10 points wasn’t amazing from Palmer considering I captained him but it wasn’t awful either.

Saka – decent 9 points from Saka, highest scoring midfielder so he stays in my team.

Foden – 7 points was OK from Foden, regardless he stays in my team as the second highest scoring midfielder in the game.

Sterling – 5 points wasn’t ideal from Sterling but I may keep him with an FA Cup replay coming up this week.

De Bruyne –  a steady start from De Bruyne with 9 points. Stays in.

Nunez – happy with 14 points from Nunez, could have been a lot more by the sounds of it though.

Jota – delighted with 17 points from Jota, he’s been a great pick for me over the past couple of weeks.

Player watchlist

Haaland – started on the bench mid week. Has to come back in but it’s whether to do it this week or next week.

Pedro – although I don’t regret not bringing him in, he obviously needs to be considered after his hat trick and season total.

Porro – might be a better pick than Estupinan, could be tempted to swap them.

Bowen – scored well for me when I had him and I feel like I should bring him back in at some point.

Alexander-Arnold – only took him out due to injury. Would be looking to bring him back in when he’s fit again.

Trippier – good upcoming fixtures and is currently the top scoring defender in the game.

Plan for game week 22

Transfer choices have been fairly straightforward over the past couple of weeks, however, I think it’s going to be more difficult this week. I could make a case for not making any at all. Of the teams I’m interested in, only Chelsea have a double game week with an FA Cup replay, so I’m keen to keep Palmer and Sterling. I also don’t want to lose Foden or De Bruyne as City have good fixtures coming up. I also don’t want to lose Jota or Nunez as they are both currently scoring well but they do play Arsenal at the weekend and Nunez could be an injury concern. I’d be happy to lose Estupinan or Saliba but equally, I’m not sure who I’d bring in as a good replacement at this stage. I’ve got until tomorrow to think about it so I’ll post an update then.
