Review of Game Week 22

Review of Game Week 22

GW Points: 18
Overall Points: 1,227
Overall Rank: 1,594
Transfers: None used

As with previous FA cup rounds most teams started with a weakened line up. This resulted in an indifferent week – the team only picked up 18 points, however my overall rank only dropped to 1,594. Staying within the top 2,000 teams after a poor points return is a good result. I’d imagine it was a fairly low point scoring week for most managers.

Positives:

Shaw returned to the starting line up against Wigan and picked up 8 points. This does not necessarily mean he’s going to be back in Man Utd’s first team every week however it’s good to know he’s fit enough to play and I may avoid having to make a transfer if he starts to play more often.

Despite Arsenal resting the majority of their first team, Sanchez came on and grabbed a couple of assists.

Potential Issues:

Liverpool’s terrible run of form continues. I picked Coutinho as Liverpool appeared to be on a good run and had the extra EFL cup fixtures. They’ve crashed out of both cups this week and face Chelsea tomorrow night. For the time being I’m stuck with Coutinho however I may look to replace him with Pogba – due to extra fixtures in February.

With a big game week approaching, including mid week Premier League fixtures and 3 new transfers available for February – I’m effectively locked out from making any transfers until Monday 6th February. I was keen to bring in Aguero for games against West Ham and Swansea. However Kane will be locked up for the week with a game tomorrow night (31st Jan) and transfers unavailable until Wednesday (1st Feb).

Tips for Game Week 23

Unfortunately I’m unable to make any transfers before the start of game week 23. However if you have the luxury of having transfers available for January it may be worth looking ahead at the coming fixtures for the week.

Teams with favourable fixtures include:

Man City – West Ham (A), Swansea (H)
Man Utd – Hull (H), Leicester (A)
Tottenham – Sunderland (A), Middlesbrough (H)

Less favourable:

Arsenal – Watford (H), Chelsea (A)
Liverpool – Chelsea (H), Hull (A)

Difficult fixtures:

Chelsea – Liverpool (A), Arsenal (H)

Based on the fixtures above, I’d tend to avoid Chelsea and Liverpool players. I’d look at players like Aguero, De Bruyne, Ibrahimovic, Pogba, Kane and Alli. Possibly Sanchez with a home tie with Watford.

As always, share your thoughts/ideas in the comments below.
