Dream Team Transfers – February 2017

Dream Team Transfers – February 2017

When looking to make transfers it’s vital to look forward at forthcoming fixtures. This helps to ensure that teams/players have either a good run of easy fixtures or more fixtures than other teams. Both can contribute to greater opportunities to accumulate more points. I also tend to only look at the top 6-7 clubs in the league.

Teams with best fixtures (in order)

Man Utd (7 games in total)

Hull (H)
Leicester (A)
Watford (H)
Saint-Etienne (H)
FA Cup 5th round
Saint-Etienne (A)
Southampton (EFL Cup Final)

Ibrahimovic – with easier fixtures and the EFL cup final, Zlatan looks like the best transfer out of the bunch for February. He’s the main goalscorer at Old Trafford and with additional games he looks like a must have.

Pogba – currently the highest point scoring midfielder, with extra games and easier fixtures he could potentially pick up a lot of points during February.

Tottenham (7 games)

Sunderland (A) – technically still in Jan but still in game week 23
Middlesbrough (H)
Liverpool (A)
KAA Gent (A)
FA Cup 5th round
KAA Gent (H)
Stoke (H)

Kane – since returning from injury Kane looks in scintillating goalscoring form. However as Spurs rely on his goals so much in the Premier League, he may be rested for Europa League and FA cup fixtures.

Eriksen/Alli – simply for the extra fixtures and great form Spurs are in, either Eriksen or Alli in midfield could rack up some big points. Again question marks over selection in Europa League and FA cup fixtures.

Man City (5 games)

West Ham (A)
Swansea (H)
Bournemouth (A)
FA Cup 5th round
Monaco (H)

Aguero – many may yet have transferred Aguero back in since his recent suspension. With a vital run of fixtures in February the star striker is almost certain to score big. A must have for the month.

Arsenal (5 games)

Watford (H)
Chelsea (A)
Hull (H)
FA Cup 5th round
Bayern Munich (A)

Sanchez – Arsenal do not have a favourable run of fixtures with difficult away games at Chelsea and Bayern. However I think it is important to have some representation with home games against Watford and Hull. Sanchez has been the most consistent point scorer for Arsenal this season. If you were looking for a cheaper option Giroud could be a good choice, if he continues to get game time.

Everton (4 games)

Stoke (A)
Bournemouth (H)
Middlesbrough (A)
Sunderland (H)

Lukaku – with Everton’s run of fixtures in February Lukaku is almost certain to score a good amount of points. My only reservation would be the lack of additional European and FA cup fixtures.

Chelsea (4 games)

Liverpool (A)
Arsenal (H)
Burnley (A)
FA Cup 5th round
Swansea (H)

With only 5 games during the month and two difficult opening fixtures I’m staying clear of the league leaders. A risky move, however there may be an opportunity to bring in Costa or Hazard for the Swansea game at the end of the month.

Liverpool (4 games)

Chelsea (H)
Hull (A)
Tottenham (H)
Leicester (A)

Coutinho – with only 4 fixtures and two challenging fixtures at home to Chelsea and Tottenham, I would be tempted to exclude any Liverpool players. However it could be a risky move considering the form Coutinho was in prior to his injury.

I’ll personally be looking to create a front six for the month that looks something like this:

De Bruyne, Eriksen or Alli, Coutinho
Aguero, Sanchez or Kane, Ibrahimovic

    1. I put the blog together before he started in place of Aguero against West Ham. If he’s going to start ahead of him most games then I’d go for Jesus. He’s much cheaper and Man City have a good run of fixtures. However it’s all going to come down to who gets the most game time.
